~ September's End ~

Hello dear friends and stitchers.

It's hard to believe tomorrow is September's end,
summer has come and passed so quickly!

I love Sundays this time of year, watching our
Greenbay Packers play football.

What a great opportunity to sit and stitch!
Yesterday the Packer's played against the Chicago Bears
at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois.

The final score was ~
Packers 38
Bears 17

5 Big Cheers to the Greenbay Packers!

Yeah....way to go Aaron Roger's!

In my collection of antique sewing goodies I have acquired
many different needlecases.

  I try to change the
needlecase in my sewing bag with the
seasons, this is the one I've picked for fall and winter....

~ Folkart Bird Needlecase ~

I love the intricate detail on the tail feathers, and the bottom
finale.

Ready for me to load a new package of my favorite needles, which
are John James Petites in a size 28.

These needles come in size 24, 26, 28 and are always available
in my Etsy Shoppe.

The simplicity makes this needlecase so charming!

*******

The King of the farmhouse is our little black
Scottish Terrier named Winston.  He has NEVER been
the kind of dog that I could take walking with me....instead
I would end up carrying him!

SOMEDAY I would love to have a dog that would love
to come walking with me.....

I pass this young Airedale Terrier on my walking route.

I've secretly thought of dognapping him!

Oh what a PERFECT walking companion he would be!

*******

This morning as I was opening up my Studio my husband poked
his head in my door and asked my if I wanted to take
a picture of a toad....

I said sure!

What a shape!

It was definitely happy to be set free!

*******

My marigolds are so bright and full on this September's End....

So bright and cheery :)

I keep them deadheaded and more little buds keep
appearing.

*******

I'm not sure what this plant/weed is called....

I really like the decorative pods that it produces.

It still has too many green pods, I always wait until all the pods
turn brown before I harvest this nice tall branch.

Looks great in an old crock!

*******

Remember the branch of Bittersweet that I purchased....

I've got it hanging so it can dry nicely.

Here's a much better close up!

~ Spontaneous Road Trip ~

Hello dear friends and stitchers!

My apologies for not being able to post my usual Friday posting.

On Friday at 7:30 a.m. my family and I were on a road trip to
Madison, Wisconsin.

More specifically my husband and son were going to
Jefferson, Wisconsin to a car show.

They asked me if I wanted
 to come along, and
they would drop me off at....

Coincidentally Lynn's had just placed a wholesale order with
me on Friday, so it was a perfect opportunity to
hand deliver their order!

I was dropped off at 11:00 and will be on foot for the rest of
the day.

Lots of models to admire cover the walls.

Most of these models are stitched on 40 count linen!

Lynn's is also a framing, and art supply shop which has been
in business for 35 years ~ WOW.....way to go Lynn!

~ Black Horse Inn by Carriage House Samplings ~

Christmas is coming up fast!

Lots of frames to choose from.

Needlework books and magazines.

Miscellaneous stitching goodies.

Specialty threads, and a rack of Scarlet Letter patterns.

Tapestry wool for needlepoint.

*******

I never leave a needlework shop without finding something
special that seems to have my name on it.....

These are just the sweetest petite embroidery scissors I've seen
in a long time!

They measure 2.5" by 1.5".
They come in silver, gold or copper.

I will be ordering some of these scissors
on Monday to be available in my Etsy Shoppe.

******

I also purchased this sweet little sampler notebook,
by Needlework Press

Just the thing I needed in my purse for when good ideas
pop into my mind....now I'll be able to jot them down.

********

Another awesome item for my purse....

 A sampler lens cleaning cloth,
I'll be using mine to clean the glass on my I~phone :)

*******

I finished at Lynn's by 12:00 and will now walk to West Towne Mall,
which will take about 25 minutes.

While I was walking I passed this beautiful stone porch....

What really caught my eye was the sweet little stained glass
window on the side.

This was not a private residence, so I walked up the steps to
get a better picture just for you :)

*******

I can finally see the mall in the distance....

Yeah.....I was really getting hungry at this point!

After I finally decided on what to eat in the food court, I felt
much better.

Next, I decided to find a good coffee shop where I could
order a 'Mocha' coffee....yum!

While I was sitting and enjoying my coffee I was SO EXCITED
to see that both NORDEN & HOFFMAN now have
my patterns available on their web sites!

Having an I~phone is priceless while away from my
computer at home!

Sometimes I have to pinch myself because it's hard to believe
this is really happening.....seeing MY patterns carried
by distributors!

*******

While walking through the mall I was surprised to see a
sewing display in a clothing store....

I remember well playing with one of these little sewing
machines when I was a young girl!

In the same clothing store I was in complete awe of
this beautiful mirror....

Just beautiful!

The whole clothing store was decorated with antique
displays.  I didn't notice it at the time, but look
at the old radiator next to the mirror ~ on the right side!

After getting bored at the mall, I asked a store clerk if
there was a near by bookstore within walking
distance.....I was so happy when she said there was
a Barnes & Noble very close :)

My family FINALLY picked me back up at 6:30.  I was
exhausted and my feet were killing me....I wore the wrong
shoes to be walking in ALL day!

*******

I'm happy to be back home, and will be spending the
rest of my weekend STITCHING :)

I'll be back on my regular posting schedule, so please
stop back to visit on Monday.

Blessing from the Studio of Scattered Seed Samplers,

~ Special News Bulletin ~

Hello dear friends and needleworkers.

Today I'd like to announce that
Scattered Seed Samplers
officially now has TWO
Wholesale Distributors ~

~ Hoffman Distributing Company
~ Norden Crafts

I also offer wholesale distributing directly through
my Studio.  So now there are THREE wholesale
options available for you shop owners :)

I've already filled my first purchase order with Norden,
and I'm in the process of filling Hoffman's.

I'm not sure how long it will take for them to scan me
into the systems, but hopefully shops will start seeing all
my patterns available by the end of this week and into
next week....I'm so excited to share my special news!

*******

Now to fill you in on some Studio updates.  I spent ALL day Saturday
in my Studio finalizing the charting for my new upcoming
Winter pattern.....

Sunday was spent deciding on just the right linen and threads.

I officially put my first few rows of stitches in on Sunday night
at 10:15 p.m.

This sampler is being stitched on 35 count Abecedarian linen by
R & R Reproductions.  The stitch count will be 236W by 192H.
The threads will be overdyed cottons.

Here's a little trivia question ~

Do you know what Abecedarian means?

ANSWER ~ one who studies or teaches the alphabet ~

*******

Inside the farmhouse I have a little alcove stitching area,
but it needed to be rearrange so it would be more
functional with my new working needs.....

My sunny alcove includes my favorite stitching chair and
pillow.  My much needed daylight lamp with
magnifier, clamped nicely onto an antique swivel stool.

I love my antique oak four drawer cabinet, holds all my needed
supplies nicely out of sight!

I removed an extra chair and side table and replaced it with a
MUCH NEEDED FLAT WORKTABLE!

This will be perfect for working in the evening, either folding and
stuffing patterns, sketching etc.....all while being with my
family and getting to watch TV!

This worktable was converted from an old treadle sewing
machine and replaced with a nice oak top.

So there you have it....my evening stitching alcove!

*******

On our Sunday drive we had gone over to Minnesota and
passed this wonderful pond with geese....

Oh what lucky geese to have such a large pond all to themselves!

They even have floating nesting boxes!

I'm sure these geese are very used to having their
pictures taken!

Here comes a few more....ready to jump in!

*******

This must be the week for GEESE, last week on the way
over to the post office, this little flock of geese was
on the roadside.....

Made me feel like the kind a thing you would see in
Europe!!

*******

The horse farmer who always cuts our hay just finished with
taking this years second cutting.

My husband and son needed to drive over to his horse farm,
and my dear Sam got some great pictures for me....

Nice country road lined with old rock ledges.

Quaint old barn sits on the entrance to the horse farm.

More neat old farm buildings....love the flag!

....Ooooo this one is really old and rustic!

Little kittens were running around....SO cute!

And yes I did say Horse Farm....finally some horses and lots
of them!

It looks like Sam caught them napping in the sun.

Now Sam's got their attention, and they're coming over
to check him out!

So these are the horses that eat all our hay!
