Birds of A Feather Flock Together

Welcome friends to a gorgeous Friday
in August!

Last week our temps at this time were hot and humid,
this week they are absolutely perfect in my book!

It's great to have the windows open at night with a
wonderful cool breeze coming in...great
sleeping conditions!

Today's mail brought a package all the way
 from Stockport, United Kingdom...

Always on the search for special tokens to include
with each of my club kits.

What a great Autumn bird for the
Little Sparrow kits that are scheduled to
ship on September 20th!

Check out the line up of Barn Swallows just outside the
Studio...chit chatting about the next club pinkeep!

Stay turned for further updates!

While out walking by our pond a few days ago, I was so surprised
to see clusters of young pincones...

My family and I planted these Pine trees seventeen years ago,
only a few survived!

I'm to tickled to see these wonderful clusters of cones!

♦

Look at this camouflaged insect that
was hanging out in my Chives...

I have no ideas what it's called?

♦

Sunflowers are starting to show off their splendor...

Love, love, love Sunflowers...they make me smile!

♦

This time of year brings out some of the
greatest colors...

Just look at these colorful clusters!

Be Still, My Soul...Hymn from 1865

Verse 1

Be still, my soul; the Lord is on thy side;
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain;
Leave to thy God to order and provide:
In every change He faithful will remain.

Be still, my soul; thy best, thy heavenly, Friend
Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.

Until Monday, take care my friends!

Are the birds in your neighborhood starting to
flock together?

Miss Matilda...coming soon!

Welcome friends and neighbors to the start of
a brand new week!

How are the temperatures in your hometown?

All day Friday, Saturday and Sunday it was
absolutely beastly hot here in my area!

We decided to go to Gold Rush on Friday
before everything got all picked over!

I'm so glad we did or I might not have been so blessed
to find such wonderful sewing treasures to
add to my ever growing collections...

It's possible to find scissors, thimbles and tomato pinkeeps
individually...but scarce as hens teeth to find
a complete unused set in the original box!

I think me heart missed a few beats when I saw this lovely
original box stamped Sterling Silver on the lid...

On the bottom is the hand written provenance stating
to whom this set was gifted and dated...I'm still
in awe!

The little tomato is in mint condition...no holes or leakage!

The scissors are still sharp!

I love the wonderful old patina on all three pieces...should
 I polish them or not?

♦

This was my best ever Gold Rush for finding
these hard to find Sterling Silver pinkeeps and emeries...

Isn't this the sweetest little apple cutting board?
It worked great to display all my goodies on!

Starting on the left side ~

~ small tomato pinkeep
~ acorn emery with Sterling Silver cap
~ Sterling Silver acorn thimble holder w/pinkeep tip
~ green Stanhope childs thimble holder

right side ~

~ small tan heart emery/Sterling cap
~ large taupe heart emery/Sterling cap
~ mini tomato waxer/Sterling cap...rare!

bottom ~

~ Sterling Silver fish needle case

I love, love, love them all...especially the fish needle case!

♦

I also love to collect bee related sewing tools...

Check out this sweet turned wood "Bee Skep"
thread holder with a cutter on top!

Unscrews to refill with a spool of thread, then fed through
the little hole.

Even has a built in thread cutter on top!

♦

My last treasure is for my old sheep collection...

Lovely cast iron sheep...front side.

...back side.

Well, I'm all antiqued out until the spring
Gold Rush!

I love to sit and stitch surrounded by all my
collections...they fill me with peace and contentment!

♦

I would like to share this last photo with you because
it is such a wonderful early shaker piece...

What a great early basket...I could only afford to take
a picture of this piece!

♦

~ Studio News ~

I'm happy to share with you a sneak peek of a
Halloween sampler I've been working on...

Coming soon..."Miss Matilda"

Model is being stitched with overdyed threads on
Weeks Dye Works ~ Confederate Grey.

I'm really having fun working on Matilda,
and hope to have her released very soon to my distributors!

♦

Look at who watches me close up the Studio at night...

These little "Tree Toad" guys love to hang around the Studio yard lights!

With suction cup toes for intricate climbing missions and
such big eyes...they are truly unique little critters!

This fellow is content hanging out on my bird house roof,
directly under one of the night lights.

~ Good Olde Gold Rush ~

Hello friends and neighbors...is it Friday already!

This week flew by way to quickly...however, I'm really
looking forward to a fun filled weekend!

♦

The simplicity of roadside wildflowers make such a
lovely arrangement!

♦

Not only did this week fly by,
but so did the entire summer!

I never miss the last Gold Rush of the season...

yep...the last show until next spring!

I've dusted off my "Matilda" Market Cart and
we're all set to hit the road...

Hoping to find some special treasures that are
looking for a good new home.

Do you like antiquing?

♦

Flashback Friday,

Here's a photo of me taken in May of 2011...

~ Summer Splendor ~

Hello friends and neighbors!

Isn't it wonderful to have weekend's to
call your own!

All work and no play...is not good for the soul!

♦

What is a prickly wildflower, which most people consider
an annoying weed?

Answer ~ Bull Thistle!

I'm really torn when it comes to this wildflower,
so beautiful yet so prickly!

The bees, butterflies and birds all love to gather round,
I myself must allow them some time to bloom
and show off their colorful side...before cutting them
down so they don't go to seed.

Then there are the innocent delicate flowers...

No thorns here!

And our beautiful Purple Coneflower is fading quickly...

Even though their beauty will quickly fade and wither...I love
the dried flower heads they leave behind!

The seeds found in the dried flower head will attract
songbirds.

♦

While out on our Sunday drive we stopped at a
small town Corn broil...

Very popular small town events here in the Midwest!

Great tasting corn on the cob...to bad they don't
offer dental floss!

You could even get a wagon ride pulled by these horses...

I'm sure they'll be happy to have all those harnesses taken off!

♦

The assemble line is shaping up for the
Humble Hare Handwork Club kits that will be
shipping out August 20th...

This week I need to edit and print the pattern...then I'll be
all set to start bagging them up!

♦

Please meet a country farm hen who is trying to decide
if she should change careers...

She's contemplating all the pro's and con's of becoming a
"hen~model", she's deep in thought wandering what
her chances would be...what do you thing?

~ Cherished Embroidery Hoops ~

Happy Friday dear friends!

How would you rank your priorities in life?

Here's how I rank mine ~

~ God
~ family
~ work

Just some seed for thought!

♦

As promised on Monday, today I'll be sharing my stash
of embroidery hoops gifted to me by my
dear Grandmother...

My 10 dearly cherished embroidery hoops!

My Grandmother grew up during the depression,
then raised a family of six, knowing well how
to save a penny!

To my amazement, I have a great appreciation for her
choice in investing in only the best hoops during her time!

Sewing notions were her weakness, so I not only
inherited her collection, but her passion right along with them!

No two hoops are alike!

Many of them are stamped "Queen" ~ USA, one is
stamped "Princess" and another is stamped "Holdtite" ~ USA,
and several are unmarked.

I love each and every one...thanks a million Grandma!

♦

I've been daydreaming about the lovely
Autumn days ahead, just looking forward to being
chilly and  putting on a sweater!

I took some time this week to design a special little
Halloween sampler that will be released to the public...this
will not be a club piece!

Here's a peek of some embellishing fabric I'll be using
to give a special touch to the sampler...

Plus, I'm excited to use one of these beautiful vintage
Amber rings is found recently while antiquing!

I'll be working on this sampler at night,
while working on kits in the Studio during the day.

♦

Humble Hare Handwork Club update...

When I finished the upcoming model for
"Humble Gatherings" I had used the only green
ribbon I had available at the time...brighter than I had wanted!

When my order of ribbon arrived this week I was so
excited to find a much better match...less bright and looks
more like Autumn!

The new ribbon choice is shown as the cut strips,
all ready for the kits.

Hopefully you can see the color difference between
to two?

♦

I've always admired unique garden sheds, while
out driving around we found two sheds
worthy of turning around for, so I
could share them with you...

Oh my goodness, how clever some people are!

A roof over a tree stump, an added
window with little shutters,
flower box & real flowers
door on hinges,
 steps...they really went all out!

Next....

A~frame earth shed!

From the front you can't see it, but this is built
into a hill, like an earth home...

I wonder what it looks like inside,
and what it's being used for?

♦

Do you like watching the clouds?

I love the big fluffy rolling kind...like these!

I love to watch them dance in the sky, and turn
into all sorts of creatures and things!

♦

 Warm summer days,
 plus cool summer nights,
equal beautiful flowers!
