Harvest of Plenty ~

Welcome dear needlefolk friends!

It has been a struggle to get back in my regular
rhythm with Thanksgiving Day mid week!

I'm happy to say that the model
is finished and ready to share for the
Schoolgirl Samplar Club's
year end kit...

"Harvest of Plenty"
©2016 Scattered Seed Samplers

Stitched on 32ct overdyed Antique Copper linen,
with Weeks Dye Works thread.

Most of the sampler is stitched
one strand over two linen threads,
except for the alphabet, which is stitched
one strand over one linen thread.

I'm still waiting for the Weeks Dye Works
thread order to arrive.

I can't confirm a definite ship date for the kits (yet),
an update will be posted just as soon
as I can...sorry for the delay!

~:::~:::~

Hope your Thanksgiving Day was very special!

Mine was very quaint,
spent at the farmhouse with
just my husband and son Sam!

Holidays are so different for us since
all our parents, grandparents,
aunts and uncles are no longer
with us!

With adapting...new traditions
 are replacing old ones!

I now love going for a
5 mile walk while the Turkey
is in the oven!

Making healthier, lower calorie favorites!
And, of course a nice family drive after
the feast!

My favorite tradition is...

A grateful heart is a happy & healthy heart!

~:::~:::~

It's time to move forward with decorating,
Christmas is just around the corner...

Sunday, I'm planning to go pick out
wreaths and greenery, so I can
get a start on decorating!

What kind a tree do you like...real or artificial?

Here's an idea I saw in a magazine,
unfortunately I don't have the written
instructions to go with it!

I'd love to try this just by looking at
the photos and see what happens!

~:::~:::~

Our Thanksgiving Day family drive took us
along the Mighty Mississippi River...

A river barge heading south before the river freezes up!

The hills look so bare without the leaves on the trees!

Love the reflection of the hills on the water!

The railway also runs along the Mississippi River
adding quite a unique dimension of
highway, railway and riverway!

Love this terrace...5 triers of stacked stone!

~:::~:::~

I'm looking forward to spending a
quite evening with a nice cup of hot tea...

Notebook in hand...to jot down my
Christmas "to~do" list!

I usually end up keeping it pretty simple!

Weekend Soul Food...

Have a good and Godly day,
for of what lasting value is a good day,
if it is not also a Godly day!

So much to do...so little time!

Winter has Arrived!

Welcome dear needlefolk friends!

Here in Wisconsin we have been enjoying very
unseasonably warm temps in the 60° ~ 70°'s,
BUT...all good things must come to an end!

Today, was an extremely blustery day with very
strong winds and much colder temps...winter
has finally arrived in our neighborhood!

❆~❄~❄

Perfect weather for stitching,
and that's just what I've been doing!

Sharing with you today is a wee
sneak peek of Schoolgirl's Samplar Club's
final kit for the year...

Hope to have it all finished and framed
by early next week!

❆~❄~❄

On a recent weekend family venture
we discovered some great old
landmarks of the past...

Vines are completely entwined around
this old piece of farm equipment!

Cows enjoying a Sunday day of rest!

Neat old barn nestled into a hillside!

The highlight of the drive was this
quaint old cemetery filled with ancient
grave markers...

I love the peacefulness of
"Mourning Sheep"

Perfectly worn in time from the
elements!

Many were just leaning up against the trees,
this one has a weeping willow on it,
symbolic for mourning!

All the headstones in this cemetery
were dated from the 18th and 19th century!

Souls that have walked this earth
before us!

This one really touched my heart,
broken into several pieces, but stacked in a pile!

Mourning sheep are the symbolism for a
young children's graves.

Gone, but never forgotten in God's eyes!

❆~❄~❄

With Thanksgiving Day just
around the corner...

 Turkey's everywhere are
seeking therapy!

Doctor's remedy...EAT HAM!

Weekend Soul Food...

If I have wounded any soul today
If I have caused one's foot to go astray
If I have walked in my own willful way
Dear Lord, forgive

Forgive the sins I have confessed to Thee
Forgive my secret sins I do not see
Oh guide, watch over me and my keeper be
Dear Lord, Amen

~ An Evening Prayer ~

❆~❄~❄

Enjoy a nice relaxing weekend...stay warm!

New Pattern Now Available...

Welcome dear needlefolk friends!

My day has been scattered in many different
directions today!

Unfortunately, I ran out of time to take
photos for the Early Workbasket feature that
was scheduled today...so sorry!

The good news is my new pattern is hot off
the press from the print shop...

"PEACE & PLENTY" Scissor Mat
©2016 Scattered Seed Samplers

This sweet little scissor mat was inspired by
an antique coverlet dresser scarf of my grandmothers!

Model stitched on 36ct. WDW "Straw" linen,
using 1 strand of NPS Needlepoint silk over two threads,
except for initials which are stitched
over one thread.

A cursive alphabet is included with pattern so
the little scissor mat can be personalized!

Model was finished with a cotton fabric backing
and a thin layer of warm & natural quilt batting,
giving a nice texture to the little scissor mat!

Please click HERE if you would
like to purchase "PEACE & PLENTY"

Well another Halloween has come and gone,
we never get any trick or treaters out
here on the farm!

I do love the ambiance of scattered pumpkins...so
sad to have to throw them away!

Along with my Marigolds!

~*~*~

Sam stopped trick or treating many years ago,
but still has fun dressing up and likes to go
cruising around town in his Shelby...

A masked cowboy...sorry you can't see the mask
better in this photo!

~*~*~

Are YOU ready for all this
political madness to end?

I sure am...will definitely be interesting
to see the outcome!!
