"Tea Time" Kettle Mat ~

Welcome dear needlefolk friends...🌷🌷🌷

February ~ such a sweet but short month,
it's amazing how a couple extra days can make
such a difference...especially when working
on a time schedule!

I know many EMW club members are patiently
waiting to see the finished model, thank you
for your patience...are you ready?

Early Maiden Workbasket Club Reveal...

"Tea Time" Kettle Mat
©2017 ~ Scattered Seed Samplers

Stitched on 36ct. Edinburgh Platinum linen,
the model was antiqued with walnut stain after
the mat was completely finished.

Layered with quilting batting to give
a nice texture to the mat.

The backing is a
Civil War Reproduction fabric.

The loop is an exclusive antique
Bakelite square!

I found these while out antiquing
last year...this was just the right project
to use them on!

The token of appreciation charms are
these sweet little kettles from the United Kingdom!

The finished size is a 6.5" by 6.5 square mat
that will accommodate an average tea pot.

Hope you like the first club kit?

~ 36ct Edinburgh Linen
~ Quilt Batting
~ Civil War Reproduction Fabric

After eighteen winters here on the farm,
the county highway snowplow took
out our old mailbox...

My handy husband
came into the Studio with such
a great surprise...the old mailbox is
being renovated into two separate birdhouses!

This first birdhouse is the back half of our
old mailbox, he's busy working on the front half that
has the little metal flag...can't wait to see
how it turns out!

He just mounted it on my little Studio fence yesterday,
and we already have serious renters checking it out!

🌷🌷🌷

Rural roadside barns by none other than
my favorite photo assistant...dearest son Sam!

With gorgeous spring like weather
this past week...Sam had a perfect excuse
to pull his Shelby Mustang out after
being in storage all winter!

Only a few scattered patches of snow!

Blue skies and temps in the 60's!

I'm sure glad he enjoyed a little taste of spring,
because overnight old man winter
 returned with a vengeance!

Miss Fanny Mae...

Welcome dear needlefolk friends!

What a gorgeous day, temps in the 60°s...
hope you're enjoying warmer weather also!

On Thursday I finished stitching the model for
The Early Maiden Workbasket Club,
how about a little sneak peek...

I have a special finishing in mind,
but first I must go fabric shopping for
just the right backing!

Will reveal the finished model
sometime next week!

~🌷🌷🌷~

With Spring officially only 31 days away,
rabbits are leaping for joy here on the farm!

Old cast iron rabbits grace the Studio's display window
offering a warm welcome to all visitors!

In between the two white rabbits sits a black
rabbit, which is harder to see because of the lighting.

Last week I heard something rustling in the bushes
directly under the display window while opening
up the door...to my surprise I discovered a
mama rabbit nesting!

The white arrow in the photo is pointing to
her bunny butt that is pushed up against the Studio
...so I've decided to name her
"Fanny Mae"!

It is such a coincidence how she located her
nest directly below the "Rabbit Crossing" sign
hanging in the display window!

A bunny nest is a scraping (small depression)
in the ground, which is what Fanny Mae
has made while she waits to
have her babies!

I've been talking to her every day...she doesn't
mind me chatting with her and my voice
has become familiar to her!

🐰🐰🐰

I've started my spring cleaning,
and was delighted to find a couple of
forgotten goodies...

An old leather journal that belonged
to my grandmother and a locket style
necklace!

I was literally speechless when I opened
an old box and discovered the locket resting
within!

The clasp is still in good working condition!

Now, I've been picking my brain to find
just the right small memento to place inside!

✋✋✋

Hip hip hooray, the warm weather has
melted all the snow...even some patches of
green grass here and there!

The Color Red...

☙♥❧  Welcome dear needlefolk friends!  ☙♥❧

Hope you all enjoyed a wonderful week,
my was spent in the Studio working
on the new club design for ~

The Early Maiden Workbasket...

I'm happy to say the design is all charted,
and I'm trying to decide on which
linen and threads to go with!

I'm looking forward to starting the model
this weekend, and sharing some sneak

February, such a special month filled with
love, kindness and sweet sentiments!

HEARTS & HANDS & THE COLOR RED!

Sharing with you are some of my favorite
things that are near and dear
to me here in the studio...

Old milk glass hands,
some inherited from my grandmother
and others that were just acquired
over the years!

I'm especially fond of this
old heart & hand bottle opener!

Faded red...perfectly worn with age!

These old "Make~Do" pinkeeps are
sooo lovely to look upon!

I have a very big soft spot in my heart
for tomato & strawberry pinkeeps!

I'm on a mission to rescue old
tattered ones that are looking for a
good home!

They are getting harder and
harder to find, but my eyes are
always on the lookout!

No two are alike,
and each and every one is
so special!

True beauty in such simple things!

I love when my son Sam emails me some
of his favorite photos...

His pictures were taken in the
Cashton, Wisconsin countryside on
an early foggy morning!

Piles of logs on an Amish farm!

Weathered old barn!

Love this shot...so rustic!

Thank you Sam for sharing your pics!

Weekend Soul Food...

Red is the color of the blood that flowed down
The face of someone who loved us so
He's the perfect man, He's the Lord's own Son
He's the Lamb of God, He's the only One
That can give us life, that can make us grow
That can make the love between us flow.

happy stitching, Tammy

Quiet Farmhouse...

Welcome dear needlefolk friends!

This week has been very challenging after the
passing of our loyal laddy Winston...the farmhouse
is so horribly quiet!

However, I was so touched by all the warm
and caring comments that were left in respect to
his passing...please know that each and every one was
greatly appreciated!

I'm so blessed to have such caring friends...LOVE YOU ALL!

I was even gifted with this beautiful
bouquet of flowers on Saturday from a local
stitching friend...thank you Dana!

And, my spirits were lifted by this sweet doggy
sympathy card send in the mail...thank you LaNelle!

Just today, my husband was searching the
internet for Scottie pups...not sure what will come
of that?  But, I'll keep you all posted if a
new king will take the throne of our
farmhouse!

Early Maiden Workbasket Club Update...

Yes, the time is quickly approaching
for the first club kit release!

During my afternoon quiet time,
I've been gathering my thoughts, and
planning out all the details...

Now, I just need to get those thoughts
designed and ready to start stitching the model!

I'm sure it will take a few more cups of
my favorite coffee & tea before things
all come together and meet my
final approval!

My mind loves to wander like
crazy once I'm in bed and just can't
seem to shut down...my bedside notepad
is a must have to jot down those
random thoughts!

Lately my mind keeps focusing on
cleaning, organizing, and de~cluttering!

Deciding on what to keep and
what to let go of!

So many things inherited,
so many things acquired...equals too much stuff!

Little by little, the cleaning has begun,
and it is such a liberating feeling!

My blog wouldn't be complete without
a few of our weekend country pics...

Love this old shed nestled in the valley
surrounded with a blanket of snow!

Beef cattle enjoying some hay!

But thou,
