October's End...

Welcome friends to the
Eve of Halloween!

How quickly the seasons change,
before we know it, Thanksgiving Day will
be upon us!

All month I was going to share the front display
window here at the Studio, but never got
around to it!

So today, is the day before I change it to Turkeys...

I've been collecting these folky pottery owls for years!

All these owls are made by the same potter, Dave Huebner, of
Dakota Stoneware Pottery.

Each one is solid clay and quite heavy.
Some have drilled holes in the feet, so they can be
mounted onto a fence post or pole.

Some are tall and thin and others are
short and chunky...no two are ever alike!

Here is David's contact information ~

When making different displays I love to use old
antique alphabet blocks to spell out different
words...the possibilities are endless!

Have fun being creative with your decorating displays.

I'm planning a quiet, relaxing and very productive
weekend at home...

I'll be busy planning ahead with my favorite worn notebook full
of notes, ideas and sketches...so many new ideas for 2016!!

On Monday, I'll be sharing a glimpse of a
new book release...

Just released in October!

Weekend Soul Food ~

seedtime and harvest,
and cold and heat,
and summer and winter,
and day and night shall not cease.

Have a happy Halloween and a wonderful weekend!

See you in November...stay warm!

Schoolgirl Samplar Club ~

Hello needlework friends!

Life's a beautiful journey,
and I feel so blessed that I fell in love with
a needle & thread as a very
young schoolgirl!

Along with my passion for antique sewing
notions, comes an even deeper passion for early
samplars stitched by young schoolgirls.

Do you love old samplers with unique motifs,
alphabets, verses, houses, animals?

If so, then we are kindred spirits and hope you will
enjoy the new club...

I'll keep sharing more information over
the next few months!

Hope you're as excited as I am!!!

My fondest childhood memories are of time spent with both
of my Grandmothers who shared their love of needlework,
animals, working very hard, recycling old things that
most people take for granted, not judging others
 and sowing seeds of kindness.

I hold very dear to my heart all things belonging
to them...

My grandmother gifted me this little sewing tin in 1968,
I was only 7 years old but she knew exactly where
my heart was!  The tin looks like a
floral needlepoint design.

Here's a peek inside...

Still filled with old recycled string, ribbon, thread and
even an old tape measure.

"Secret Sunday Samplar" Update...

I finally got a start on the top border and even a couple
animal motifs.

I love working with the silk thread!!

"Humble Hare Handwork Club" Update...

This week I'll be charting the design for the kits that are
scheduled to ship on November 21, 2015.

The chosen linen will be 32ct. Country French ~ Golden Needle.

I'll have to go on a road trip to track down the backing fabric
that I would like to use...hoping it's still available!

Winter lodging apartments for rent...

Two Bee Skep apartments have been given a fresh coat
of paint and are ready to hang, just in time
 for my winter feathered friends!

You never know what you might see while driving...

Six large crates of Pumpkins!

Love those white ones up front!

More cold, rainy days ahead for us this week...

I know what I'll be doing...STITCHING!!!

All the Sheepish Needle kits made it safely to the post
office on Friday without getting wet...

Thanks to plastic bags and a big umbrella!!

But, as for me trying to take these pictures and hang
on to an umbrella all at the same time,
didn't work so well...I did get wet!

But it was worth it!

Afternoon Tea...

Hello friends!

We've been spoiled here all week enjoying unseasonably
warm 70° weather...one day it even hit 80°!

But, all good things must come to an end,
and today it's back to reality...dreary October weather!

It's hard to believe next Saturday will be
HALLOWEEN, are you ready....

As a kid growing up in Milwaukee, I always remember
Halloween falling on the coldest, rainy day of
October, but it never stopped us from
 going Trick~Or~Treating!

It's always fun to see the Amish out shopping...

Out of focus, but looking at antifreeze...LOL!

How cute is that!!!

Here in the Studio, I'm in the planning stage of new
things to come for 2016...

Inspired by this sign, Scattered Seed Samplers
will be adding some new ideas!

I'll be sharing more information over the next
several months...stay tuned!

I only have time for this short post today...

I look forward to visiting again on Monday.

Weekend Soul Food ~

My defense is of God,
which saveth the upright in heart.

Wishing you all a
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
Weekend of fun!

Please join me for afternoon tea,

Humble Hares On My Mind ~

Welcome friends, hope you enjoyed a great day!

The weather here today is absolutely gorgeous at 73°.

Plus, Wisconsinites seem to have big smiles on their
faces today after another Green Bay Packer
win yesterday....making us 6-0!!!!

It's hard to believe, but it's already time to
start thinking about the next release for
  "Humble Hare Handwork Club"...

Ideas are being jotted down as they flow through my mind!

This next release is scheduled to ship
November 21, 2015.

Sunday's Secret Samplar Update...

I'm so excited about this samplar as everything is starting
to come together...ready to thread my needle on Sunday!

The linen just arrived today,
Weeks Dye Works 36ct ~ Straw.

It's absolutely gorgeous, a perfect color
with a very warm antique look!

The model will be worked in
Au Ver A Soie from Paris, France.
 (Soie means Silk in French)

This company has been in business since 1820,
with over 1,000 shades to choose from, I'll
be using their "Soie d' alger" silk line.

The finished samplar pattern WILL include
DMC as the alternative.

I'm anticipating getting started with my first stitch
this coming Sunday!

Along with the really chilly nights we've been having
comes Mr. Frost!

Just look at how pretty the
Sunflower's were BEFORE Mr. Frost...

Happy as can be soaking up all the warm sunshine!

Now, not so happy...

Sadly, all pretty things must fade away!

A time to plant, and a time to pluck up that
which is planted...Ecclesiastes 3:2  (KJV)

Look who's all packed up and heading to Florida
for the Winter...

This fellow has had enough of Mr. Frost!

And on the other hand look at this sweet little
Bluebird deep in thought...

Just hanging out amidst the Wild Bittersweet!

I love Bluebirds,
they are a symbol of happiness and optimism!

Do you get enough "ME" time in your daily routine?

If not, a daily quiet time is a relaxing way to reflect
on the blessings in YOUR life!

Life is Goode, but too short...take time to enjoy yours!

I LOVE this banner...

It makes me think of the verse I chose
for this weeks soul food!

Weekly Soul Food...

Have not I commanded thee?
BE STRONG and of a good courage;
be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed:
for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

Joshua 1:9...KJV

Well, I'm off to have that coffee break and
quiet time I was talking about!

Enjoy your week,
Tammy

Squirrel Stash ~

Welcome friends...do you have any special
plans for the weekend ahead?

This is the time of year I love to dust off
my furry Squirrel friends so I can
admire them throughout the
Harvest season.

From my antique Squirrel stash please meet some
of my special little friends...

Lots of different colored bushy tails all huddled together!

These five fellows are all old German Squirrels,
 three are Steiff,
one mechanical wind up,
one mechanical.

I especially love these two!

Each one unique...they have all been buddies for years!

These are also German Squirrels from a very old
toy company "Wagner Kunstlerschutz", West Germany.

They are flocked handwork squirrels.
No two tails are alike, each one has a different
color of real squirrel hair.

They are holding little pine cones!

Does anyone else collect Squirrels?

I also love to add old bone rings to my handwork stash...

This old paper card is almost in mint condition!

I originally bought these with the intention of using them,
but I don't think I have the heart to remove
them from their original card...I'll probably NEVER
find another unused set like this EVER again!

For all my sheepish friends out there,
I thought you might enjoy this fun little mail order catalog...

Just received this current copy a couple of weeks ago.

Full of great sheepish calendars, notepads, mugs, pillows,
rugs, socks, slippers, Christmas cards, jewelry etc.

If you'd like to receive a copy for yourself,
here is the contact info...

The shop owner is Carol Black.

"Pure in Heart" Pinkeep Pillow ~

Welcome friends, how is your day going?

I'm enjoying a very blustery Autumn day...the wind
nearly carried off my finished pinpillow while
taking photos!

After rummaging through the barn for just the right
photo prop, I was happy to find an old
weathered garden gate!

I hauled it up to the back porch, dusted it off,
screwed in place an old porcelain fence insulator
as a hanger and I'm finally ready to share...

"Pure in Heart" pinkeep pillow

A full alphabet and numbers will be provided to personalize
with your initials & any year you choose.

Silk ribbon and two small pearl shell rings will also
be included, plus the Civil War Reproduction
fabric for the backside...

Windham Fabrics ~ General's Wives by Nancy Gere.

This is
The Sheepish Needle Samplar Club's
second kit, scheduled to ship on
October 23rd.

I'm going to have to see about getting this
garden gate hung on my "Bird Garden"!

These are my friendly sheep models who inspired
my sheep motif!

It's never to late to join the club...

Sunday's Secret Samplar Update...

While watching Sunday football,
I finished charting my secret samplar...yippee!

Now, to order just the right linen...I'm thinking
Weeks Dye Works 36 ct. Straw.

Then the hard part, choosing just the right colours!
Silk for sure...pattern will also include
DMC alternatives.

Plus, the Green Bay Packers are now 5~0!!!!

Winning yesterday's game ~

The next couple of pics were taken by my son Sam while
 walking back by our pond...

WOW...look at the giant size hole made by
Pileated Woodpeckers!!!!

The water level of our pond is really low right now...

Ancient artifacts right in our own pond...old farm machine!!

A special thank you for all the extra special
get well wishes I received last week...

I'm happy to say I'm fully recovered!
