Welcome dear needlefolk friends!
Another week has come and gone,
but today is the first Friday of October,
which means I get to share another
Early Workbasket feature with you!
Today's topic will be on rulers ~
"measure twice...cut once"
This is a wise rule for cutting anything!
Cut improperly and the piece is ruined, it's
far better to double~check than to
make a mistake!
Most vintage wood rulers and yard sticks
were a popular form of advertising.
This yard stick is a wonderful solid square style
with advertising on all four sides...
Bemidji Woolen Mills
P.O. Box 227 218~751~5166
Bemidji, MN 56501
Est. 1920
Manufactures of the
Famous Dupont Certified Pillows
This next one is so cool...
A GOOD RULE...
"Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You"
The backside shows it was
Compliments of
The Coca Cola Bottling Co.
This next one is very special to me...
The first reason being that its says;
For the Ladies' Work Basket...so special!
And the second reason being...
The advertising on the backside,
Tharinger Macaroni Company was located in
Milwaukee, Wisconsin...my birthplace!
This sweet little six inch ruler has a special
place in my workbasket!
The last one is a metal ruler gage...
It's great to have a slide gage ruler in your workbasket,
they come in so handy!
You can buy a modern version at any craft
store, or find a vintage one to make your work
basket extra special!
Hope you enjoyed today's topic!
The next Early Workbasket is
scheduled for Friday, November 4th.

I'll be sharing more photos in the next
week or so!

let every man be swift to hear,
slow to speak, slow to wrath:
For the wrath of man worketh not

So very special for you to have a ruler from your birthplace. We sell them in our store, and I love reading the old advertising on them. Janice
