Harvest of Plenty ~

Welcome dear needlefolk friends!

It has been a struggle to get back in my regular
rhythm with Thanksgiving Day mid week!

I'm happy to say that the model
is finished and ready to share for the
Schoolgirl Samplar Club's
year end kit...

"Harvest of Plenty"
©2016 Scattered Seed Samplers

Stitched on 32ct overdyed Antique Copper linen,
with Weeks Dye Works thread.

Most of the sampler is stitched
one strand over two linen threads,
except for the alphabet, which is stitched
one strand over one linen thread.

I'm still waiting for the Weeks Dye Works
thread order to arrive.

I can't confirm a definite ship date for the kits (yet),
an update will be posted just as soon
as I can...sorry for the delay!

Hope your Thanksgiving Day was very special!

Mine was very quaint,
spent at the farmhouse with
just my husband and son Sam!

Holidays are so different for us since
all our parents, grandparents,
aunts and uncles are no longer
with us!

With adapting...new traditions
 are replacing old ones!

I now love going for a
5 mile walk while the Turkey
is in the oven!

Making healthier, lower calorie favorites!
And, of course a nice family drive after
the feast!

My favorite tradition is...

A grateful heart is a happy & healthy heart!

It's time to move forward with decorating,
Christmas is just around the corner...

Sunday, I'm planning to go pick out
wreaths and greenery, so I can
get a start on decorating!

What kind a tree do you like...real or artificial?

Here's an idea I saw in a magazine,
unfortunately I don't have the written
instructions to go with it!

I'd love to try this just by looking at
the photos and see what happens!

Our Thanksgiving Day family drive took us
along the Mighty Mississippi River...

A river barge heading south before the river freezes up!

The hills look so bare without the leaves on the trees!

Love the reflection of the hills on the water!

The railway also runs along the Mississippi River
adding quite a unique dimension of
highway, railway and riverway!

Love this terrace...5 triers of stacked stone!

I'm looking forward to spending a
quite evening with a nice cup of hot tea...

Notebook in hand...to jot down my
Christmas "to~do" list!

I usually end up keeping it pretty simple!

  1. Great Sampler, love the Squirrels.
I love a real tree, but not practical anymore, so I have a 7' slim which we really like.
Lots of handmade ornaments on it, made by myself and from friends. it's the best part of decorating the tree, remembering who the ornament is from. :)
I put the tree up yesterday.

  2. I love your sampler! We are putting up a real tree this year for the first time in many years. When my boys were younger we would use an artificial quite often because we traveled out of town to my mom's and I didn't like leaving a real tree for a week especially with cats. Now we celebrate in our home with a real tree and only one quiet kitty!

  3. With the passing of your family, you are redefining normal quiet nicely. Love real trees but not the mess. Feather trees are one of my favorite trees.

  4. While my heart will always be with a real tree, we have gone artificial the past several years because I love keeping my tree up way past the point of practicality! We do buy a real tree to decorate out by our ponds that we can see from our eating area, so that is lovely. On a side note, would you know the pattern of the tea cup pictured, it was instant love the moment I saw it!

  5. With cats, a real tree is not practical because our cats would climb it. And pine needles are not good for a cats insides. Well, they climbed the artificial tree, too. One year I decided to see why they always laid on their backs under the tree - looking up through the branches, a Christmas tree is a fairy wonderland, no wonder the cats loved it! And I will never forget the night our daughter's fat little calico cat plopped down on the tree stand to bathe herself at the same moment the timer on the tree lights turned them off! The look on her little cat face plainly said, "Oh no! I broke the tree!!!"
