Token of a Covenant...

Welcome dear friends...hope you all
enjoyed a great weekend!

It flew by so quickly...is it really Monday!

My day started out great,
but quickly deteriorated due to really bad
internet connection...talk about frustration!!!

Oh well, this too shall pass!

}}}♦{{{

Look what I found at a rummage sale...
A small vintage artist's wooden paint box...$5.00!

It has a pretty little clasp and handle,
open it up and there's a dainty wooden palette...
Works perfect to store my charted design under,
plus a nice little writing board!

In its new life it will be re~purposed as
a small project work box!

It has such wonderful charm...
Five nice sized compartments to hold
everything I need!

I especially love the long narrow compartment
that holds my rolled linen...
I cleaned it up real well with a damp cloth,
let it dry and sprayed the inside with a
"matte" sealer.

The outside I rubbed down with
"Old English" for dark wood.

I would estimate the age to be from
circa 1910~1920's.

I'll be working on finishing up the model
for Little Sparrow Pinkeep Club this
week...hope to have a finish by
Friday!

}}}♦{{{

While misting my Boston Fern I discovered
the most curious insect...
My guess is a large moth of some sort?

Very content and didn't even mind getting misted!
It hung around for about a day and then vanished!

}}}♦{{{

I'm having fun decorating with old flags...
This week I want to dig out my
"Betsy Ross" flag to hang off the farmhouse porch!

}}}♦{{{

Friday we had a big bad thunder storm
move through our area...
Sam took pictures of how dark and ominous the
sky looked over the farm!

Possible tornado, high winds and hail in the forecast...
All the vehicles were put in our big
machinery shed for safe keeping!

We ended up with only the high winds
and lots of rain...
All day Saturday was beastly hot!

And Sunday we were blessed with a cold front...
I've always loved listening to a good
old fashioned thunder storm!

The best part is getting to see a large double
rainbow stretched over the entire farm...
SO BIG  it wouldn't all fit in one picture...left side!

The massive center arch...

And the right side...
The birds are certainly having a feast after the storm!

Weekly Soul Food...

And God said,
This is the token of the covenant which I
make between me and you and every living
creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:

I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a
token of a covenant between me and the earth.

And I will remember my covenant, which is between me
and you and every living creature of all flesh;
and the waters shall no more become a flood to
destroy all flesh.

My plans for this weekend...stitch, stitch, stitch!

~**~**~

My best thinking time is during my
stitching time, and my thoughts are drifting to
a much anticipated upcoming samplar series...

If all goes as planned...the tentative release date
for the 1st Bee Samplar will be sometime around the end of July.

~**~**~

The mailman delivered such a pleasant surprise today...
A handwritten note on a
Blackbird Designs note card...thank you so much
Gretchen H. for your very sweet message!

~**~**~

My last sighting of one of the baby robins...
Exhausted from flying lessons, taking a little break...Mama
robin was just a few yards away!

~**~**~

Sharing with you today are some back yard snaps...
A black crow decoy mounted on an old
fence post...keeping watch over the farm!

My son Samuel loves mowing our back acreage...
He keeps it mowed so nicely...just like our
own private park!

Wild berries are really thick this year...
I'll be busy picking berries in a few weeks...yummy!

This is the mowed path that leads to our pond...
I'm planning on adding some benches here and there...so I
can relax and enjoy the peace and quiet!

Here you can see a glimpse of the pond through all the trees...
Ducks of all kinds LOVE this secluded little pond!

The frog songs at night are so intense!
Sam even spied a mother deer with two fawns
while he was mowing!

Love the big old massive trees...
I think some bird houses would be a nice touch!

Sam really has to keep his eyes open when
mowing for mama Turtles laying eggs...
Sam couldn't resist flipping this mama over on
her back to get a snap of her beautiful colorful shell!

Of course she didn't like it!

And took off lickedy split as soon as
she was back on her feet...
Turtles are such unique creatures!

Saturday, one of the little Studio Robins left the
nest and was hopping around the farmhouse
while taking flying lessons from mama!

Sunday morning I took photos
of the last two...
I'm thinking maybe Saturday's baby got pushed out
of the nest...looks pretty crowded!

By Sunday afternoon the nest was empty...
Found the little fellows perched on the Arbor Vitae
just a few feet from their nest...what a face!

They quickly got the courage to make their
maiden flight down to the driveway...
Mama Robin was ready and waiting to take over!

So sad to look in and see an empty nest...
They sure mature at lightning speed!

~**~**~

While out running errands,
I couldn't resist treating myself
to a couple of big beautiful Boston Ferns...
One for the front porch and the other for the back porch.

My grandmother and mother always had
Boston Ferns, I love how nicely they fit into
my old wicker plant stands!

I'm also very fond of "Hens & Chicks"...
These Hens & Chicks came already potted...found them
at Wal~Mart for only $11.88.

Years ago my husband found this neat old
stone artifact down by our pond...
The center is hollow making it perfect to plant
some Marigolds!

I'll share some more or my plantings on Friday!

~**~**~

How about a little sneak peek of
my antique reproduction sampler
in progress...
Border number two is a brown branch with
endless little olive leaves...I have the top and right
side all complete!

Half way there...
Can't wait to finish...so I can start on the final border!

While stitching away,
my thoughts turned to Lydia Barnes
the little nine year old girl that stitched
this back in 1827...I wonder how long it took
her to stitch the original?

Weekly Soul Food...

To every thing there is a season,
and a time to every purpose under the heaven.

~**~**~

After spending two hours in the dentist
chair earlier today, my Novocaine has finally
worn off and I feel like myself again...yay!

Looking forward to getting a final crown in
two weeks...totally worth the sore jaw!

Wishing YOU a most splendid week ahead!

Kindly, Tammy

The Early Workbasket ~ Sewing Baskets

Hello and Welcome dear friends!

Did you realize that today is not only Friday,
but it's also the 1st Friday of the month,
which means it's time for...
Today's topic will be on early sewing baskets!

Some of you may remember my post
from April 29th, which read...

Every so often I've been blessed to be in the
right place at the right time...I like to call it fate!

When my dearest mother passed away back in 2007,
things were complicated having two stepbrothers
and sadly things aren't always handled fairly!

Back in April, after an odd turn of events,
which led my family and I to stop at a small local
antique shop we hadn't visited for years!

Right as you walk into the shop standing in
the foyer was my mother's antique curved glass
china cabinet...Oh, how I gasped!!

I'm sure it's hers because of several very
distinctive marks...that I remember very well!

She would be so happy knowing it made its way
back to me!

I decided not to put it in the farmhouse,
but rather in my Studio!

I finally have it filled and ready to share with you...
After contemplating just what to put in it...I
decided to display my collection of early workbaskets!

The front door is open on this next picture,
making it easier to see in...
Old baskets complimented with a
few of my favorite things!

The top shelf is dedicated in
memory of my loving mother...
She was so young in this old photo,
and looks lovely setting next to one of my
favorite antique marble mourning lambs!

Mary Cynthia Brundage
1937~2007
Gone but never forgotten ~
she lives in my heart forever!

I only added a few favorite sewing goodies...
Simply is best...I didn't want it to look cluttered!

Only one wooden box was added...
Surrounded by old workbaskets!

The curved glass sides are like a custom fit
for these old baskets...
Some of the baskets have an old pinkeep
placed on top!

My husband really likes how my
small baskets are gathered together!

Sitting on the very top by the mirror...
A lovely old thread well box embellished
with a pinkeep on top!

And, my favorite yarn swift...
I love the little ivory screw located just
above the wooden base!

How many old baskets do you have?
Maybe you too can have fun gathering yours
together to create your very own special display!

~**~

Every day, at least three times a day,
I love to peek in on the baby Studio robins...
They are really starting to fill up the nest!

Weekend Soul Food...

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the
ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth
in the seat of the scornful.

But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law
doth he meditate day and night.

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water,
that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall
not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the
wind driveth away.

Psalm 1:1~4...KJV

Hope you have a
supercalifragilisticexpialidocious
weekend!

~I'll be stitching & gardening~
