The Storm has Passed ~

Welcome dear needlefolk friends!
It's been like a whirlwind here in the Studio
this week...time literally flew by!!

Plus, a tornado like storm with high
winds really took a toll on our wooded land!

Our power was out for many, many hours...
we're so thankful things are finally back to normal!

Thank goodness for old fashioned kerosene lamps!

My husband has been busy surveying all
the damaged trees...

This big old Walnut tree was probably
100 years old...completely uprooted!

Countless other trees were split and shredded!

Lots of tall Pine trees...gone!

Some split in mid air and dangling!

So sad, so devastating, lots of mess,
and lots of clean up!

Luckily it missed the farmhouse and buildings!

Our next door neighbors lost a silo, while
many near by houses had severe roof
damage!

Be Ye Virtuous...Coming Soon!

Welcome dear needlefolk friends ~

Hope you had a most relaxing weekend
enjoying all the things you love most!

Mine was spent with needle in hand...

Finishing up "Bee" motifs,
doing some last minute re~designing,
and some color changes!

My personal samplar critic (husband)
always gives me his honest opinions on my work,
which can get me very frustrated, especially
when it means ripping out and changing!

He's very artist and is usually right...so I'm
very thankful in the end!

Just about ready to start framing...will share
the finish as soon as I'm done!

Bee sure to watch for this special release post!

This new pattern will be released later
this week and available for purchase in my
Etsy Shop.

~::~

This week will also be spent working
on the design for the next
Schoolgirl Samplar Club release!

I'm running behind schedule and will do
my best to get caught up!

Which brings me to the decision that I must
restructure my weekly work schedule!

Monday's regular post will be replaced with
random unscheduled SURPRISE postings as my
busy schedule allows through the week...
FRIDAY'S post will be the main
posting for the week!

This new schedule change will allow me to be
more productive in creating more new releases...Yay!

~::~

Weekly Soul Food...

Finally, Brethren,
whatsoever things are true,
whatsoever things are honest,
whatsoever things are just,
whatsoever things are pure,
whatsoever things are lovely,
whatsoever things are of good report;
if there be any virtue,
and if there be any praise,
think on these things.

Philippians 4:8...KJV

As time is so precious...spend it not in vain!

~ Blessings for a lovely, productive week ~

The Early Workbasket ~ Metal Pinkeeps

Welcome dear needlefolk friends ~
Time sure flies by quickly when your hands
are holding a needle and thread!

After many delightful hours of stitching on
my soon to be released "Bee Samplar";
how about a little sneak peek...
This weekend I hope to finish up adding the final
motifs and some small details!

I'm working the model
with AVAS silk thread on
36ct. WDW "Tin Roof" linen.

With several good pattern titles,
I'm really having a hard time deciding
which one to go with!

The Early Workbasket
(featured the first Friday of the month)

This month I'll be sharing my cabinet of
all creatures great and small ~ metal pinkeeps!

This old secretary serves multiple purposes
here in the Studio...
This very tall secretary has a wonderful decorative top,
four nice display shelves, roll top desk with four drawers
and divided storage area on the lower sides!

The craftsmanship is totally outstanding!

Now, for a peek inside...
Of all the different things I collect this is
absolutely my favorite!

My rabbits are most near and dear to my heart...
Always room for one more!

Shelf number two...

Dogs, Cats, Turtles, Lions and Sheep!

Plus, some special Squirrels and Frogs!

Moving up to the third shelf...

Ducks, Swans and nesting birds!

Each one has such character!

Parrots, Seagull, Cockatoo and Owls!

Last, the top shelf...

Thread Wells, Pigs and Camels!

A pinkeep for every season!

This represents years and years of antiquing!

Lovely Linen ~

Welcome dear needlefolk friends ~
Hope you enjoyed a restful weekend!

Schoolgirl Samplar Club Update ~

Decisions decisions,
with so many lovely linens to choose from
picking just the right one is a process
of elimination...
So many important factors to consider!

~ touch...do you prefer soft or stiff?
~  count...28, 30, 32, 35, 36 or 40?
~ color...light, medium or dark?
~  effects...plain or overdyed?

The chosen schoolgirl linen
for the second club kit will be...
"ABECEDARIAN" Blend Linen
 by R & R Reproductions

Schoolgirl Trivia ~
Do you know the meaning of Abecedarian?

Pertaining to the alphabet...
One who teaches or studies the alphabet,
one who is just learning; beginner.

Now, about those important factors...

This 36 count Abecedarian linen is soft
to the touch, hand overdyed  in
a medium dye bath.

When ordering this linen I requested a
medium tone because not everyone
likes the darker tones!

I think this lovely linen will make
a sweet Schoolgirl Samplar...what do you think?

Class is almost full...
But, there are still a few seats available!

If you are interested in joining the
Schoolgirl Samplar Club, please click onto the
schoolgirl photo above or click HERE for
all the details!

I enjoyed a fantastic stitch filled weekend,
enormous progress was made on the
soon to be released Bee Samplar!

I hope to have the sampler all finished in the
 next couple of weeks...maybe sooner!

I'll share a sneak peek in the next few days!

This Bee Samplar will fit nicely into a
standard 10" by 10" frame.

~:::~

Sunday, I enjoyed little break from stitching
to take a walk on the farm...

~ Purple Coneflower and Queen Ann's Lace ~

I always enjoy the wild flowers that bloom
in the fields surrounding our pond.

~ Marsh Milkweed ~

Being very careful to watch and listen
for busy bees and wasps!

Weekly Soul Food...

filled with contentment as we share the love
of our needles!

Sooner Begun...Sooner Done

Welcome dear needlefolk friends ~

What a wonderful week of rejoicing...now
fully recovered from my scary wasp ordeal!!

Tuesday, I finally "Beegan" stitching
on my soon to be released Bee Sampler...
Stitching the wonderful traditional
alphabet in this samplar was so relaxing!

Right now I'm working on the border,
saving the center motifs for last...

Sooner Begun...Sooner Done

Sewing is the best medicine for me...
My soul yearns for my daily dose!

I'll be working my needle with
great passion to bring to you this soon
to be released Bee Samplar!

Love old Beekeeping photos...
Delight yourself in simple things,
and your heart and soul will be overflowing!

~:::~

These little gofers look so cute and innocent...

Cute maybe...but innocent hardly!
They are very busy digging tunnels every where!

Do you have little critters like this in your yard?

~:::~

Discovered a fallen nest this morning...
Taking a closer look at any fallen nest is so fun,
to see if I can find any of my thread clippings that
I scatter around the yard for them!

Hooray, this one has several woven into
the center of the nest!

I love how this little bird chose such
an interesting choice of fibers...
Lots of seedy little sprigs!

~:::~

We had a line up of endless
Barn Swallows on our power lines...
They just kept coming and coming!

All this busy activity lasted for about 3~4 days...
In the seventeen years we've lived here,
we've never witnessed anything like this!

~:::~

Look how loaded the Chestnut trees are this year...

I'm sure the squirrels are patiently
waiting for harvest time!

Have you ever seen a Chestnut up close?

They have a very thick prickly outer skin that
continues to dry.

When they are ripe they fall to the ground and
the dried outer skin cracks open to reveal
the chestnut hidden inside.

Weekend Soul Food...

 the Lord directeth his steps.

Hoping you will find time to relax
into your stitching chair this
weekend!
