The Early Workbasket..."Frog" Pinkeeps

Welcome dear friends to warmer days ahead...
April showers bring May flowers!

I've already been enjoying several
calm, quiet, rainy days
which I totally love!

The quiet evening hours are now filled with
frogs serenading the night air with their peaceful song!

And sure enough, they are already finding their
way into my husbands workshop...
This little fellow hooped inside while he was closing up
the workshop doors for the evening!

Such curious looking little critters...
They love hanging out in our pond, and can
be heard all summer long!

~.~.~.~

It's Friday, and time for...

Today's topic will be "Frog & Toad" pinkeeps!

I just received this handsome little fellow
a couple of weeks ago for my birthday...
He fits right in with the rest of my handsome toads!

Please meet his new friends here at the Studio...
Made of "Pot" metal and finished with a gold gilt
and glass eyes.

Some have glass eyes and some do not...
Each one is uniquely different!

I love the old sawdust filled pinkeeps...
Especially when they are worn and tattered from age!

Old pins will leave little rusty spots...
Adds even more character!

This fellow may be small, but very heavy,
because he is actually a paperweight...
Weighing in at almost one full pound!

And even has an original label on the bottom...
A fun paper weight can really liven up a desk area!

My last prince is from England...
Just a wee little fellow...carrying a heavy load!

My only true "Silver" frog...
Nicely stamped on the bottom foot.

Does anyone else collect frogs?
Do you know the difference between a frog & toad?

They have different kinds of skin ~ dry and pebbly for toads,
moist and smooth for frogs ~ they prefer different habitats ~
toads prefer land ~ frogs like water ~ toads have short forelimbs
and hop or walk ~ frogs have slim bodies and long legs, and
jump to get around.

Weekend Soul Food...

Then I will give you rain in due season,
and the land shall yield her increase,
and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.

Your friendship is dear and kept close
to my heart...thank you for visiting with me!

Wishing you a special weekend,
Kindly, Tammy

  3. Ha! It is snowing right now.
We know the difference between frogs and toads. We have a pond full of frogs serenading us too. We have many toads living in our yard.

  4. We used to have many frogs when we had our pond. I loved seeing their little faces peaking out from the water. I loved holding the teeny babies on my hand, we still find the odd one under planters or behind our water butts where it's dark & damp; there must be a pond nearby.
    Love your sampler.

  6. I don't collect frogs, but they do collect here, by the thousands it seems. The cacophony of frog song fills the Hollow every night emanating from our pond and creek. It's LOUD. As always, I love your collections, they are simply the best.

  7. I'm so happy to be awaiting the sampler and threads! Happy mail day awaits.

We love frogs and toads here at Cripple Creek Cottage. The spring peepers have been out and about for several weeks. Santa claus brought my grown daughter a vintage ceramic toad with glass warts of all colors that light up with an old light bulb. The electric components are sound, but she doesn't leave it on at night. We have a mama toad - the same one? - that has tiny babies every early summer. We look for her as she likes my potted plants on the porch.

Have a lovely cool-ish spring evening.
