~ Stitching A New Path ~

Wow, this day is just
flying by!

Yesterday, I promised a Studio tour of
Scattered Seed Samplers....but I was happy to
discoverer that I had saved some old photos
from when it was first Salem Stitchery.

So today, I thought it would be fun to first show you what my
Studio looked like BEFORE I started making this
new transition & then on Monday I will show you
AFTER pictures.

~ Antique German Sheep from my collection ~

~ Salem Stitchery 2007-2014 ~

I Irishman husband remodeled this old carriage style building
back in 2007, which was a true labor of love considering it's
almost as old as the farmhouse!  The best thing is that
I have a very short walk to work....the farmhouse is on one
side of the driveway & my studio is on the other!
~ Guest Book Table ~

I see my candy dish was empty the day I took this picture!
The folkart crow is something my husband carved for me.

~ Antique's that were for sale ~

The antique's for sale were displayed in the center of the shop
just it front of the guest book table.

~ Check out counter ~

My husband build my checkout counter and linen cutting table....this area
before the remodeling actually had old chicken nest boxes on the
whole wall.
~ My Old Mission Oak Desk ~

This was the first piece of antique furniture I ever bought back when
I was very young...I remember having to put it on layaway for
3 months before I could finally bring it home!

My sweet son Sam bought me the white milk glass rabbit candy dish years
ago for Mother's Day.
~ Wider view ~

All the sampler models on the walls were stitched & framed my me....not sure
what I'm going to do with all of them now?  Hopefully I'll be able to
start recovering the walls with my designs!

I just noticed Shamrocks hanging from the old support beam, so this
must have been taken last March.
~ Close up view ~
All the old spool boxes are full of different silk thread.
~ Wall by checkout counter ~

My husband made the folkart lady that held by business cards....he is SO
artistic & talented.  Also, he added all the nice windows with
the wood ledges above them for me to display things.

~ Halloween Display ~

I had never stitched a halloween sampler before opening the shop, but
quickly found out it's very popular!

~ Linen Shelf with Rabbit Folk samplers on top ~

My personal favorite Rabbits.....also very popular.
~ Part of a Christmas Display ~

~ More Christmas~

I absolutely loved stitching Notgotten Farms "Old Saint Nick"....thank you
Lori for years of wonderful designs!

~ Knitting Yarn ~

Sadly this is the only picture I have of my yarn nook.  There were
actually three large walls of yarn.

Thanks to Ebay ~ I've been able to sell off most of my
store inventory.

I'm enjoying getting my Etsy shoppe going, this is where I'll
continue to sell my favorite retail sewing items such as:
needles, scissors, needle minders, and much more
too come, as I get time to get new goodies listed....and this is also
where I'll be selling my pattern designs....hopefully SOON!!
~ Cat samplers in old bird cage ~

I always liked this display....the birds are free, but
the "Cats are in the cage"!

Hopefully, I haven't bored you to to death with all these old photos.
I was really happy to discover I still had them, and thought it
was the perfect time to share them with you.

If all goes as planned, I will give you the Studio tour I promised
on Monday. You'll get to see new pictures of how
I'm changing this building into my
"Studio"

Well so much for today...I better get some work done.

  1. Bored? Are you kidding me?! I love EVERYTHING in that shop, what a treat to visit it via internet. How on earth did you sew that many samplers? It takes me a year just to finish one! I would much rather design them. If you start selling those samplers PLEASE let me know, I often purchase them on ebay. Loved the tour!

  3. Hi Tammy,
I too am amazed at ALL your lovely samplers!!!!! Just looking at the photos shows what you are passionate about!!! Thank you for sharing your story and journey and may the next leg be even better!!!! I LOVE the photo of the putz sheep too!!! Swoon!!
I really want to try my hand at doing a sampler and wondered if you have some advice or can recommend a good source for how to stitch primitive samplers? I used to cross stitch years ago but have pretty much forgotten everything I ever learned and love the primitive look!! Any suggestions would be so appreciated!!!
Thank you and hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day!
    Warm Hugs~
