~ Summer Posting Schedule ~

Good Monday morning to everyone :)

I'm finding that there are just not enough hours in the
day to get all the many things done.... needed to get
Scattered Seed Samplers up & running smoothly.

I still have several hurdles to jump over in my new adventure!
So after giving this much thought, I feel it necessary
to find more time to focus on getting my designing
going, and I've decided to have a ~

Summer Posting Schedule
I will post every MONDAY & FRIDAY.

By the end of summer hopefully I'll be more settled in with
everything, and I'll be able to ADD BACK more posting
days at that time....I really love posting and will do
my best to make Mondays & Friday special!

Today,  I'd like to share a couple of my husband's
Folkart Crows....

~ Farm Folk Crows ~

My Irishman's specialty is carving original decoys, but I love Folkart....so he
spoils me with fun "one of a kind" treasures like these!

He carves everything by hand, including the cool pipe...then paints & antiques them.
We both love antiques and recycle old things from the farm to use
as the bases.

Can you guess what's in this "Life Is Good" bag?

I bought this large canvas "Life Is Good" tote bag last year while
visiting our oldest son & family in Alexandria, Virginia at the
Life is Good store in Old Town Alexandria....and it is
my favorite "Shipping" bag.

These are my weekend orders from Ebay & Etsy.
I go to our little post office in West Salem five days a week
with orders...and this bag works
perfectly!

I had gone into the basement looking for this....

Small sponges....I'm planning an experiment tonight with a new
method for possibly antiquing "Spring Meadow" to be
released at the end of the month.

It's a new discovery I found at Michael's yesterday and
I'll let you know the results on Friday's visit.

I finally found my sponges, but they ended up being upstairs.
What I did find in the basement was this....

A very old hand whisk brush.....the handle is wrapped tightly with
wire and has a silver end cap.  The funny thing is I don't know
where it came from and don't remember every seeing it
before....it must have belonged to the original
owners of the farmhouse!

What an unexpected fine...I'll have to add it to my little
collection of brooms & brushes.

Do you know what this is.....?

This is fresh cut "Sweet Grass".
I will continue to keep cutting it every couple days....until I
can't get anymore!

Here I've wrapped it into little bundles....ready to start the
drying process.

I will have to go back to the basement to get my old drying rack....until I
bring it up this old yard stick will do the job.

Wait until you see what I create with this Sweet Grass...I think
you'll probably like it....if I get a good harvest I will
sell the bundles in my Etsy shop....stay tuned!

Update on Spring Meadow Sampler....stitching is finished,
frame is all picked out...hope to frame on Tuesday.

My framing has always been in the basement of the farmhouse,
but while sorting through frames yesterday I decided this
too needed to be better organized in my Studio.

So I've starting moving my frame stash up from
the basement & out to the Studio....

Here I'm using an old wicker plant stand to organize some of the medium
size frames.

This was Samuel's antique wicker baby bassinet, he's 21 now and this
was an antique when I bought it....so it really getting old now.

There is no way I can ever part with it....so it will help
to organize the larger frames.

On Friday I'll share more pictures of this finished project, as
I'm still trying to organize the smaller frames in the
old yarn cubby holes.....and gathering all my
framing tools and such.

Next, I'd like to share one of my favorite old sewing boxes....

This is a wonderful box with an inlayed carved lion.
Original velvet covered pincushion on top.

The little drawer has an ivory nob, and the drawer is dove tailed.

The best part is that when you pull the drawer all the
way out, and look way down inside, the
maker had signed his name and it's
dated 1852!

I must wrap this up for today and I'm looking forward to
visiting with you again on FRIDAY.

Please find SERENITY in your day, and in all
that you do, and wherever life takes you.

  1. So many treasures. The crows ... what talent! I shall miss the daily posts but understand .... good things take time to perfect.
I have my sweet grass that was enclosed in my last order you send, hanging in my craft room (thank you). I'm anxious to learn
more about it and see what you have in store for us. Looking forward to the lamb pattern too .... yup a little hint!

  3. What a lovely post! Loved seeing all the treasures, especially the little brush. I have a collection of brooms & brushes packed away waiting for us to decide to settle where we are or move elsewhere. STRESS! Can't wait to see what you will do with the sweet grass. I've never seen it before!

  4. How nice to find a little treasure with a mystery attached... oh where, oh where, did it come from?! I wouldn't worry about posting every day, or even twice a week. I don't have a posting schedule, just post when I am able to do so, usually once a week. Hmmm. very curious as to what you'll do with that grass.
